What Technology do Lawyers Use?

That’s a pretty broad question. In fact, it’s probably better to pluralize and ask what technologies lawyers use. While it’s clear the digital age has transformed how a lawyer works, it’s difficult to elaborate on all the different technologies and their contributions—but we’ll try.

First off, while online legal research has been around for decades, it seems that its growth has accelerated in the 21st century. Now, artificial intelligence is unlocking capabilities that help a lawyer dig deeper and research faster.

Speaking of AI, data analytics forms the bedrock of many of these new technologies, including machine learning and cognitive computing. Savvy lawyers are harnessing the power of legal analytics to predict the future and build stronger case strategies.

And that’s just the beginning. Attorneys can rely on legal software to organize their cases, build courtroom presentations, manage the businesses side of the practice and much more.
